I'm on the phone with Ashfin.

And today we are discussing The Brood from

1979, directed and written by David Cronenberg, starring Art Hindle, Oliver Reed, and

Samantha Eger. And in this film, a concerned father tries to make sense of what is going on

at the mysterious psychological institution where his wife is being treated as a string of murders

befall those close to him. If you're new to the show, we're just going to talk general

background info on this movie for the first 15 to 20 minutes. We will keep that spoiler free,

but after that, we'll take a little break, play some transition music, and that music

means we're headed into spoiler territory,

so it's time to duck out if you haven't seen the movie.

Ashfin, I'll stay away from the genre of this film,

because I feel like it kind of reveals itself towards the end of the movie,

so maybe we won't discuss that until later.

Sounds good.

But it plays out as a kind of a murder mystery, really, in the first hour of the movie, right?

Yeah, yeah, I think the setup is very akin to a murder mystery.
