Today we're going to begin by talking about men and their ability to encourage equality in the workplace.

A lot of women, and perhaps even some men, still feel there's an imbalance given the ongoing pay gap

and the fact most women still don't land the top jobs.

Catalyst is a non-profit based in New York that advocates for women in business. They recently held their annual conference where they announced

a new initiative called Mark, which stands for men advocating real change. It's an online platform

encouraging men to weigh in on how gender plays out at work, to open up a dialogue with other men so equality isn't just seen as a women's issue.

I started out by asking Catalyst's social media manager Mike Otterman a basic question.

What do men have to gain from equality?

There's a lot to gain.

It's not about men losing and women gaining or men gaining women losing.

We bring each other up.

Mark is all about amplifying the message of guys that get it and bringing in guys that

haven't quite gotten the message that equality is good for everyone,

men, women, families, business, the economy, etc.

His colleague, Janine Prime, Vice President of Research at Catalyst,

points out that most couples these days are dual income.

And if your wife is getting paid less because she's female,

that directly affects your

household's bottom line. It's a reason to care, and it's not the only one.
