Hey everybody we're back with another bald movie this is first run but it's first run on Netflix and we're late with it and we're late with it forever we were it didn't have this that last week we just ran out of time it's the boy who harnessed the wind, which is a 2019 film telling the

true life story about William Kamquamba, who essentially scavenged parts and made a windmill that saved his village in the nation of Malawi during a food shortage.

And it was, this is notable for being Chuitel of Geo4's first

directorial debut.

I guess that's redundant.

Yes, it's his director of debut. It's also his first directing job.

It stars both him as William's father as well as Maxwell Simba as William himself

What did you think of this film?

Uh, this, I like this movie.

I thought it, like coming off of Roma as one of our most recent ones which is another sort of

a different kind of slice of life, foreign culture kind of movie. This one has much more of a

plot. This one actually got me emotionally invested in the characters in traditional movie ways, which I appreciate, and I really enjoyed the film.

And I learned a lot about African culture, or not a lot, but I learned let's say 90% more than I knew before about African culture

Which is like we'll talk about this particular slice the Malawian I don't yeah Africa is a massive

continent with yeah you know anyway um yeah I know I agree I thought that I think it's

interesting compare it to Roma because they are very much alike in a lot of ways

and very much opposites because Roma is you know goes for broke on art and style. I felt like this film is very workman-like. It did feel like, it did feel like, you know, not a student film because this is just beyond that ability, like a student film if a student was

Chuitel a geophore who had a very successful movie career probably a lot of money

probably a lot of good connections probably a lot of great cinematographers on speed dial a pool of

just superior actors that would die to work on this particular project and

with this particular project and with this particular

uh... director

...
