As a young boy, Clarence Horatius Pickett was drawn to the pulpit and hailed as a phenomenon

in the early 1900s. In churches, in Atlanta, in Augusta, and Columbus, all in Georgia. In Philadelphia,

in Aliquippa, in Pennsylvania. And in Cleveland, Ohio, the young and vibrant Reverend Clarence

Pickett displayed a gift for writing and for preaching that seemed to come directly from

Scripture and the Holy Spirit and the heart. His inspiration and company were sought by congregations,

fellow pastors, and women.

Reverend Pickett was tall and trimmed, a shade under six feet and about 160 pounds.
