Summary

After the George Floyd debacle, Police bodycams are becoming ubiquitous -- and it can't happen soon enough, because without them there is no doubt that some new outrage would have been concocted during the last three and a half years. Had police been wearing one in the Floyd incident, the proof that he couldn't breath before encountering the police would have been incontrovertible. But the bodycams do more than record the actions of suspects: they provide a profound insight into the astonishing patience, professionalism and courtesy of the police in the face of unimaginable slurs, insults and false accusations. Back on February 26 of 2012, we heard the story about a smiling young black boy who was pursued

0:07.0

and gunned down in cold blood in his neighborhood, and his name was Trayvon Martin.

Turns out that the truth of the story was considerably more complex than that.

0:16.0

I did one of my first afterburners about that, went into some detail about it, and the story was not nearly the way that the media portrayed it. However, we saw the same thing happen with George Floyd.

When you dig into what happened during the case of that arrest, there's all sorts of

0:29.5

mitigating things in there that weren't reported. But I think those days are over because of a

0:34.5

very simple piece of technology. Hi, everybody. I'm Bill Whittle here with Steve Green and Scott Ott, and this right angle is

0:39.8

called the Body Cam Revolution.

0:42.3

I should say the police body cam revolution.

After the mostly peaceful process that burned down a great deal of America's cities and

0:51.0

smashed a lot of American stores, windows, it became almost universal

0:56.3

policy, at least for big city police departments, to issue wearable body cams, which go right

1:01.5

in the middle, and they record everything. Now, I was a huge fan of the show, Cops. I just loved it,

1:06.4

because it showed me what life was like for actual police officers. You would see somebody in the

1:12.2

beginning of a segment basically shooting heroin into their arms, and then when they're caught,

1:17.9

he said, no, I didn't do that. I swear to God, I swear to God, I didn't do it.

1:22.0

Well, here's the thing, guys. It's now there's hundreds of thousands probably of cops out there

1:27.3

recording what cops do and what

1:29.0

they have to do in the course of their job. And two things I've noticed because I've become

1:32.8

addicted to these police body cam videos. Steve, let me start with you about this. I am completely

1:42.3

blown away at the level of disrespect that has shown these officers.

1:47.8

They're constantly being told just F off.
