In the previous chapters, Valenci with with her newfound confidence and unashamedness, decided that she would go to the family dinner that day, so that she might view all her relatives from her new and revealing perspective.

It was not long after arriving that she concluded how truly dull they all were.

She could not help but still feel in awe, however, of the near perfection of her cousin Olive, reviving bitter feelings of contempt and injustice for

Valency.

Now that we're caught up with the story so far, let's get ourselves ready for sleep.
