It's easy to let things go on too long.

And I know that's a broad statement, but that's intentional.

Because things can cover a whole lot of stuff.

Some of it, small.

Like not taking the trash out or procrastinating when you have a deadline.

But it can be big too, like not saying sorry to a friend, or putting off that first, I love

you, to your soul, me.

And one thing I've been putting off for the last few years was doing this annual fun run

in New Hampshire.

It was for a charity I've

been working with for a while. They're important, important to me, important in what

they do, which is a lot of medical research that I won't go into. Point is I'm not a fan of

running. Unless you're being chased by some ungodly creature that wants to rip your spine out of your back.

I'm not a fan of doing it for fun anyway, but I ran out of excuses.

And last fall I found myself in New Hampshire, running down the streets of Hanover.

And at first, I kind of dug it.

The autumn leaves were stunning.

It was that perfect temperature, cool but not hot.

I thought maybe I'd been wrong and I should have done this sooner.

Except about a mile into the race, I felt it.

My new shoes scraping against my heel,

and I realized I'd gotten the classic plight of the runner.
