We're throwing a lot of things at you.

And we just, the main point is we wanted to say that when it comes to black people,

as we have sometime dealt with in this industry, we're not a monolith.

There are, there are so many, there's so many types of us, you know.

And this film, we wanted to be sure that although sometime we are in horror movies,

where sometime there's one of us,

there's the, you know, there's the token black person, here was one where we could be all of them.

And so it made it interesting that you hopefully saw you.

You know, Hello and welcome back to the Directors' Cut, brought to you by the Directors Guild of America.

In this episode, seven black friends reunite for a Juneteenth weekend getaway, only to find

themselves trapped in a remote cabin with a twisted killer, and director Tim Stories's horror

satire, The Blackening. Forced to play by the killer's rules in a deadly game,

the friends use their street smarts and knowledge of horror movies to help them stay alive, to mixed results.

In addition to The Blackening, stories other directorial credits include the feature films, Shaft,

Ride Along, Fantastic Four, and Think Like a Man,

and episodes of the series Standoff and CSI Miami.

Following a screening of the film at the DGA Theater in Los Angeles,

stories spoke with director David E. Talbert about filming The Blackening.
