But first, let's review new music from Shabaka and Hooray for the Rif Raff. RF. That's a little bit of the insecurities from the new Shabaka album perceive its beauty, acknowledge its grace, Shabaka, otherwise known as Shabaka Hutchings.

This is his solo studio debut, but he is one of the kingpins of the London Jazz scene.

And people might think, Jazz, London, it's been, the last decade has been amazing.

A number of great artists have emerged from that scene

uh... shabaca was born in uh... london in nineteen eighty four was raised in

Birmingham and then uh... barbedos where his parents were originally from, studied classical music and Calypso and really came into jazz when he was 16 and mentored by the saxophone of Saueto Kinch who is mixing jazz with hip-hop and

there's really the key to what Chabaka Hutchin is doing. The purists will

sneer at what Chabaka is doing because he's not a jazz, you know, 50s

accolade. He is really moving the genre forward, which is one of the reasons we have addressed him. I've considered him one of the major

artists of the last few years. He's in a bunch of bands, Chabaca and the ancestors, which

is basically South African musicians along with Shabaka.

He led Sons of Comette, this multi-genre UK Quartet before it's dissolution in 2022,

was part of that trio, The Comet is is coming which blended funk and rock influences
