At about 10.30 pm on Thursday night February 2nd, I was downstairs in the garage making sure

I had everything I needed packed in the car before I went to bed.

I knew my wife could go into labor any minute now after all February 2nd was our official

due date.

When I walked back into the house, she was standing at the top of the stairs looking

down at me.

And the lights were all off so it was a fairly ominous scene when she said, I think we

need to go to the hospital.

Her little contraction app, the tracking app, had informed her that it was go time.

Now keep in mind, Austin, Texas had been experiencing yet another unprecedented winter

freeze for several days leading up to this fateful moment.

And I have struggled with anxiety and panic attacks while driving on the highway since

I was 21 years old.

So driving my wife safely to the hospital had been my biggest concern even before the

freeze took place because the hospital is just over 20 miles north of our house.

Straight highway the whole way there.
