My name's Dan. Cheers for downloading us. Now this week, it's a biochemistry bonanza. Thanks to the biochemical society. Today, we're learning all about how chemical changes inside your body can affect almost everything that you do. We'll learn how you get sick, then why you get better again, what biochemistry actually is and how scientists are using it to develop ways to try and improve every day of your life.

Now, we'll find out loads more about this by chatting to a proper biochemistry expert who's on the show in a little bit.

Also, we'll talk about animals and find out how different types of venom that they carry can kill you.

And I've got some shout-outs to do after we catch up with our very own science genius.

Professor Hallecks is miraculous medicines.

Body is still poorly with a tummy ache.

And so Professor Hallex and Nurse Nanobots are trying to make the perfect new medicine to make him feel better.

Hmm, if we knew what was making him feel poorly, it would be much easier to give him the right

medicine.

Yes, if he's eaten something with germs in it, then...

We could use a medicine that targets those germs and kills them.

Or if he's eaten something spiky and made

his tummy sore. Then we could give him medicine to soothe the soreness. And if he's been

drinking too much fizzy pop, then, well, feel any better? Obviously not. Think we can rule out

the fizzy pop as the cause. A big burp usually sorts those kind of tummy aches out.

You know, there's a name some people use for medicines that target specific things,

ones that stop something in particular happening.

Like stopping naughty germs from setting up home in body.

Or start something happening, maybe activating a biological process to
