My son James is three years old and my daughter Olivia is 1.5 years old. My wife Mindy and I waited five years since we were married to start having our kids. We were pretty young when we got married, so not having kids right away was a part of the plan.

James, my miracle boy, had a very hard first year of life. At 7 months pregnant, Mindy was in severe pain, which turned out to be contractions. The hospital tried to delay her labor, but was unsuccessful. Immediately after James was born, he couldn’t breathe on his own, so he stayed in the NICU for two months. It was really hard seeing James hooked up to all those machines and not being able to eat or breathe on his own.. When he was about a year old, James fell off the couch and bumped his head. This turned out to cause his brain to bleed and had emergency surgery.

After James’ first year of life, I learned that being rich was not nearly the most important thing in my life. I’m so grateful to have him and I needed to dedicate my time to help James and to be there with my wife.

The following year, Mindy was pregnant with Olivia! This is right as COVID happened, so I worked from home. Since James was born premature, Mindy was put on bed rest very early, so I took up a lot of responsibility taking care of her, of James, and with work though COVID. During this time, I started doing YouTube and TikTok videos, and Mindy was my editor! Olivia was still born premature, but one month early. Olivia had to be in the NICU like James, but only for a very short period of time!

Mindy and I work hard to balance being good partners and being good parents. At the end of the day, work isn’t as important as a lot of people prioritize it. Your kids are only this age for so long, so you should enjoy it while you can. Even after a long and hard day, I still come home and take care of my family.
