Good morning.

My mentor Jim Rohn taught me that you can learn from both examples and warnings, and

our great challenge is to distinguish between the two.

And I'll add that often it can be taught by the same person in fact.

I'll give you an example.

If you've been part of this community or following my work for a while, then you know

very well that my dad was my best friend and the most influential person of my life.

I learned so many things from him.

Some of them were examples like his rigorous discipline and work ethic and consistency.

How he always did what had to be done.

You could always count on him.

He'd be there for you.

I used that as an example for myself still every day.

And many other lessons that I learned from my dad were also taught through warnings,

like the tumultuous relationship that he had with his wife.

I remember one time when I was probably about 12 years old.

I was walking by the front room of our house and I heard something stirring in the living

room.

The room was pitch black.
