It seemed like a match made in heaven.

Well, if not in heaven,

then certainly somewhere in that general vicinity. A week before Valentine's Day, Spirit Airlines and Frontier Airlines announced they were planning to get hitched. The proposed merger would

create one behemoth budget carrier that the company's called the country's most competitive ultra-low-fair airline.

Well, before you add in all those extra fees, of course.

The two airlines made sense together.

Spirit has a strong base of business in the East while Frontiers conquered the Wild West.

They have similar business models as well.

Together, the unnamed joint entity would send more than a thousand daily flights

filled with bargains seeking passengers to destinations in the U.S., Caribbean, and Latin America, USA Today reports.
