This is a summary video on L-Carnitine.

What is L-Carnitine?

It’s an amino acid that transports fat into the mitochondria. The mitochondria is the energy factory in all of your cells. L-Carnitine also handles some of the waste that’s generated from the fat that’s being oxidized.

What is L-Carnitine used for?

 • Weight loss

 • Endurance

 • Increased energy

 • Better recovery

But, L-Carnitine is not just for athletes or people who want to lose weight.

The best way to use L-Carnitine is actually for your cardiovascular health. Essentially the heart loves fatty acids. It needs L-Carnitine to transport fatty acids into the machinery to burn for its energy. L-Carnitine and COQ10 together are really fantastic for cardiovascular health.

Welcome to the Dr. Berg's Healthy Kito and Interminute fasting podcast, where Dr. Berg takes you on the journey for the truth about getting healthy and losing healthy weight. This video is a summary video on El Carnatine. What is it and what's the most important use of Al Carnatine?

0:51.0

It's an amino acid that transports fat into the mitochondria.

0:57.6

The mitochondria is the energy factory in all of your cells. It produces the energy currency called ATP. And Al-Karnatine also will

1:07.5

handle some of the waste that's generated from the fat that's being oxidized.

1:13.0

Now, since its job is to transport fat into the oven,

1:18.0

sort of speak, for burning, people take it to lose weight,

1:22.0

okay? They take it to develop more energy.

1:25.0

While they're working out, they get more endurance. They have better recovery if they're exercising.

1:32.0

So these are the main reasons why people consume this, but there's actually a bigger reason that I'm going to talk about.

1:38.0

Most of your cells contain between 500 and 2,000 mitochondria.

1:46.7

But the heart cell has 5,000 mitochondria.

1:51.4

That's incredible.

1:52.0

That's a lot of mitochondria. Now the interesting

1:55.1

thing about the heart muscle that's different than the skeletal muscle is it

2:00.1

doesn't have a glycogen reserve.

2:09.2

And when you burn fat, most of that fat turns into free fatty acids

2:16.2

and only 40% of it turns into ketones. So when we talk about fat burning, we're not talking about just ketones. We're also talking about fatty acids. And the heart loves fatty acids. In fact, it runs in fatty acids,

2:24.2

it runs on other things like lactate and ketones,

2:28.2

but it loves fatty acids.
