Welcome to our Rosary meditation.

Let's begin in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

It's called in mind all those we've promised to pray for, especially offering this rosary,

for all of the loved ones who have been submitted to our prayer list for their deep conversion and well-being.

On this last Sunday of Advent, the second reading of the Mass is from Paul's letter to the Romans.

The gist of Romans is this. We can't save ourselves.

The Jews couldn't save themselves by following the law of Moses and the rest of us, the Gentiles.

We can't save ourselves by science and reason alone. Every one of us is a slave to sin. Pride, envy, sloth,

anger, greed, gluttony, lust, fear. The list goes on and on pick your poison.

In Roman 6 Paul explains that sin is turning away from God.

The consequence of turning away permanently is hell. For hell is the only

place one can go to get away from God. At a variety of depths, we are all slaves to sin. We are addicts who don't have the power on our own to turn away, to stop, to be set free.

And we refuse... to stop, to be set free.

And we refuse to acknowledge this reality.

We go on thinking we can solve things on our own.

This is pride, self-reliance.

And it's the reason we refuse to spend the time we should in prayer

because, you know, we've got this.

Our Father who art in heaven, hallow would be your name.

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us a day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who
