Summary

As you can imagine, Melanie and I were heartbroken to hear about Coach Mike Leach's death earlier this week. We actually recorded this episode before he passed away, so we talk about a lot of the stuff you might expect: Melanie's hunting wardrobe, the trip that David and I took last week, A&M's continued search for an offensive coordinator, and our thoughts about the college kids coming home for Christmas break. All fun things - and it's my turn for Five Favorites.

There's also a special little something at the very end.

Let's continue to pray for the Leach family - as well as for the Mississippi State football team and coaches. Coach Leach was a treasure, and we lost him way too soon.

0:26.0

And I'm like, what a guy. Like, what, how much he brought to the game of college football and how much he'll be missed

0:31.0

because you know that my, my fondest wish came true when he became Mississippi State's coach

0:37.0

because I wanted him in the SEC.

0:39.0

Yeah.

0:40.0

And what a loss. I mean, he did so much for the game.

0:43.0

And I'm just so sad for his family and his friends and, and the world of college football.

0:47.0

I know. I've thought all morning about the fact that, you know, Mississippi State people,

0:52.0

we, we don't like a lot of pretense. And we're not super interested generally in keeping up with the genders

1:00.0

because we, we kind of think maybe the genders are mortgaged up to their eyeballs anyway.

1:04.0

But his just sincere affection for people, the fact that he was so genuine, he was so without any sort of ego

1:16.0

or without any sort of pretense, it just endeared him to us on every level.

1:23.0

And I feel like he fit just the whole Mississippi State community. He just fit us like a glove.

1:29.0

And so, yeah.

1:30.0

I'm so sad for our players and for his assistant coaches and obviously so sad for his family.

1:37.0

But I just, I think over and over, well, golly, we were just the luckiest to have almost three years with him as our head coach.

1:45.0

And he will, he will for sure be missed.
