Summary

What if reading the Bible isn’t about being more religious, but about being more free? In this morning devotion, Kirk explains why God’s Word does what no therapist, program, or self-help book ever could: it reveals, heals, and transforms the human heart. Using powerful imagery of light, dust, and healing, this episode shows how Scripture exposes what’s hurting us, not to shame us, but to set us free. If you’ve ever struggled to read the Bible consistently or wondered why it even matters, this conversation is for you. Good morning. Hey, grab your coffee, take a breath, and lean in for just a few minutes.

Here's a promise that I want to make to you today. By the end of this devotion, you're going

0:10.5

to understand why reading the Bible is not about becoming more religious, but about becoming

0:17.1

more free. And why the Word of God does something that nothing else in the entire world can do,

0:23.5

not therapy, not self-help, not discipline, not even willpower. Okay, let's talk about why. There is

0:31.2

nothing in the whole world like the Bible. Nothing. No counselor, no book, no program, no 12-step system.

0:43.6

This book is the one and only book that God wrote. And it's not just one book. It's actually

0:50.9

an entire library of books, 66 of them, to be exact. And these books

0:56.1

were written over hundreds, even thousands of years by dozens of different authors, different

backgrounds, across multiple continents, and they all tell one seamless, unified story of

1:09.4

redemption. It's all about God rescuing lost, broken people through his

1:14.7

son, Jesus Christ. And when you read the scripture, some of it's really difficult to read.

1:21.4

Some of it's comforting. Some of it is healing. Other passages are very harsh and they're very revealing. And scripture describes itself,

1:33.5

not as polite and passive and always comforting. In fact, the book of Hebrews tells us that the

1:40.3

Word of God is living and active, that it's powerful. In Revelation, it's like a sword coming out of the mouth of God.

1:48.6

It's even more than that, sharper than any two-edged sword, Hebrew says.

1:53.2

It's able to cut and it's able to heal.

1:57.6

And that's super important because when you think about swords and knives, blades, some blades are meant to harm and some blades are meant to save lives.

2:09.1

The Bible goes straight for the real issue every time that it speaks.

2:13.0

It's not looking to adjust our schedules.

2:16.0

It's not looking to form new habits. It's not looking to improve

our self image. It's looking to transform our hearts. Scripture says in the book of
