0:29.6	It's Monday and we just learned that ABC has notified the world that they will not be airing the Golden Globes in 2022.
0:37.8	The network said this on a statement Monday morning.
0:40.8	And the reasons for this are obvious.
0:43.0	We've been talking about the problems of the Golden Globes for a number of months here.
0:46.9	In part, the scope of their membership, how they decide what film should be nominated,
0:51.0	some of the conduct of some of their members over the years.
0:53.6	What's your reaction to this news that NBC is holding the Globes?
0:56.6	I am a little bit surprised, even though over the weekend, individual celebrities and studios have been kind of coming out against the Golden Globes,
1:08.4	and specifically the Hollywood Foreign Press Association saying they would no longer participate until there was like meaningful reform.
1:13.8	And it did seem like this was the year that people were finally taking a lot of longstanding allegations against the Hollywood Foreign Press Association seriously.
1:26.1	But I don't think that I expected NBC to just to walk away as quickly.
1:31.0	And we should say that at the time of recording, what we know is that according to their statement,
1:35.4	they will not be airing the 2022 Golden Globes.
1:38.5	And this is from the statement, assuming the organization executes on its plan,
1:42.5	we are hopeful we will be in a position to air the show in January 2023.
