There was something that happened over the weekend,

and it's the same thing that happened a year ago.

Earlier this year,

Juan Soto turned down a 13-year, $330 million contract from the Nationals.

This weekend, the Nationals up the offer to 15 years, $440 million.

He turned it down.

That surprised a lot of people.

The New Deal would have given him the largest contract in the history of baseball.

But the offer sheet wasn't enough to Land Soto, who's one of the bright stars.

He's only 23 years of age.

And the offer may look impressive.

But it would have made him the fifth highest paid player in baseball with the average salary of a 15-year contract.

He's looking at $500 million, folks.
