From M. Pure Music, had all songs considered on Lars Gottrich, dearly beloved, we are

0:14.7

gathered here today to celebrate the best music released in the month of September and

0:21.7

my man Tyler Childers is here to bring the gospel.

1:21.7

I am here with Jerusalem Truth, Hey Jerusalem and and powers. Hallelujah, brother Lars,

1:31.9

how are you on this fun day? Oh, there you are, I am. And here's the thing, there is a silly

1:38.0

amount of music released every day, every week, every month, every year, it is overwhelming,

1:43.7

so it is our job in M. Pure Music to distill in essence. Let's call it Oda Music. And that's it,

1:52.7

we are here to recommend a triple album by Tyler Childers. I send three discs or three records or

1:59.4

if you're on a streaming services, I guess that's three chapters. The Tyler Childers is a songwriter

2:29.0

adventurous artists working in what we loosely call Americana or country or roots or southern music

2:37.2

today. Tyler always does what he wants to do and he's very high concept, but as we heard in that

2:42.8

track, he's also, can we call it down home? I mean, he understands where he came from. He's very

2:48.9

grounded in the culture of Kentucky where he lives. He's very intertwined with the community there.

2:55.0

And this record he made after getting sober, becoming a dad, and spending a lot of time in his

3:02.8

garden where he contemplated the bigger questions of life and decided he wanted to approach the

3:10.0

music that he grew up with in Southern Baptist Church. And he took eight songs, five originals,

3:18.7

two traditional hymns, and the song we just heard, which is a Southern gospel tune made famous by

3:24.4

Hank Williams Sr., and explored them from different angles, playing with his touring band, The Postage
