0:00.0	As we move closer to the gift giving time of the year, I thought I would do a podcast on what would be the number one most ideal gift to give a dog owner or somebody who is about to become
0:23.4	a new dog or a puppy owner. Hi, I'm Susan Garrett. Welcome to Shape by Dog. And before we
0:29.3	jump into what would be that ideal gift, I think we can all agree on what would be the absolute
0:35.0	worst gift, right? And that would be gifting somebody the surprise
0:42.2	gift of a new dog or a new puppy. As romantic as television or movies might make that appear to
0:50.2	be, that is the absolute worst gift you can give anybody. Please don't do that. I can do a whole
0:56.8	podcast on why that's a really bad idea, but that's not what this one's about. It's about
1:01.5	what is that ideal gift. And as much as I love, okay, it's clear to any of you who followed
1:08.6	me on social media, I have a little bit of a problem
1:11.4	slash obsession with dog beds and I love dog toys and I love dog leashes. None of those are
1:18.9	my number one gift that I think you should be giving somebody who owns a dog or is about
1:24.3	to own a dog or a puppy. Now, a true gift is something that lights up both the giver
1:32.6	and the receiver. You know, I've dialed this one in. I have got you the best gift ever.
1:39.1	And when they receive it, they go, oh my gosh, I never would have thought of getting this for myself, but thank
1:46.6	you, thank you. Or, oh my gosh, this is exactly what I wanted, but I wasn't in the position
1:52.0	to get it for myself. Thank you, thank you. That is what we're aiming for. That's the kind of
1:58.8	reaction. We feel good about giving it. They feel
2:02.2	amazing about receiving it. But that doesn't always happen. Here's what often happens is
2:08.1	you rack your brain for a great gift and you just get something because you feel obliged.
2:13.3	You want to give that gift. And the people who receive that gift, you know, they might fake,
2:19.5	oh, yeah, great, but really, how many like potato peelers or crock pox does one person need?
2:25.5	And they're going to hang on to that because there's an emotional obligation because it was a gift
