This is the busted open podcast. I want to talk to you first about the main event when it comes to

Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins for the men's crown jewel championship.

So there is a distinct difference between being the man or the woman in wrestling and being a champion.

There's a difference between the two. I think that early on in my fandom, when someone is the champion, you thought, well, that's the

pinnacle, that's the person, that's the man, that's the woman that you got to follow.

But as I grew older watching wrestling, and I've been watching wrestling since I was five, six years

old, you come to realize that just because you have a championship does not necessarily

make you the man or make you the woman in pro wrestling.

There's been plenty of examples of us celebrating or enjoying or watching someone who is the

leader of the company. Like nature boy Rick Flair, like the late Hulk Hogan, like John

Sina who he watched today take on AJ Stiles, like the hitman Brett Hart, like Stone Cold Steve Austin,

like handsome Harley Race, who led the NWA to seven championships in his time with the National Wrestling Alliance,

like Terry Funk or his brother Dory, who were NWA champions. You knew that those guys weren't just champions, but they were the leader

of the brand. Jack Briscoe is in that conversation. Roman Raines is in that conversation.

When you can tell someone that that person's a champion, there's a reason because they're the

leader of the company. It's not just winning the championship, it's that they're doing all the media, they're

in all the main events, and they're always involved in creative matches, and they always

find a way to win in the end.

Whether that person has a baby face or a heel, there's a big difference.

I know that there's a plethora of championships out there now for wrestling.
