Bruce, we had actually finished recording the entire episode and then the news dropped.

Auburn firing Gus Mal's on.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how shocked are you?

Five. Yeah. It's impossible to be too shocked yeah

and it's true i mean he's been on the hot seat and off the hot seat for like four years now so

it's not shocking um i think the thing that's interesting here as a subplot is if i'm tennessee

i'm if i'm jeremy prud or full fulmer i'm a little

bit edgy right now because the candidates i think they're going to be they're eyeballing for

if jeremy prud couldn't win in 2021 um are the same guys auburn's going to go after.

And Auburn's got a lot of money.

And honestly, they probably have had more recent history of success,

certainly, than Tennessee has.

So it's getting pretty spicy in the SEC now.

I mean, so first of all, let's just note that they're going to pay $21.5 million to buy out

Gus Maas on, 50% of which is due within 30 days.

So anybody who thought, and I admit at one point I thought this, that this was not going to be

a normal coaching carousel because of the pandemic, it just means more in the SEC, even if that more costs $21.5 million.

Am I crazy to think this is entirely about one guy?

Auburn wants to beat Tennessee to heat free.

I don't know if it's just that.
