James Rapine. A big trade has once again shaken up the top of the 2021 NFL draft and gives us

insight into what's going to happen before the Bengals pick and well what the Bengals might do with their number five pick.

Duke Tobin also talked to Dan Horde quite a bit over on the Bengals Booth podcast, and we'll talk

about some of the takeaways from listening to what Duke had to say on Monday.

James, let's start with this trade. Carolina acquires Sam Darnold for a

six-round pick in 2021. So they give up zero premium 20-21 picks for Donald and a future second

and a future fourth. So not a whole lot in terms of the return for Donald.

The Jets do get their second, second round pick for 2022 here. So they now have four picks in the

first two rounds, I think two years in a row. Maybe they only have the two first rounders this

year, but quite a bit of draft capital there for the Jets.

And the Panthers get a quarterback that they've invested in.

And maybe you don't see it as a huge investment, but they gave up three draft picks, including a second rounder.

And not only that, they've said that they're picking up his fifth year options so at least for

two years it appears the carolina panthers are committing to sam darnald they got their guy

and they they were certainly open and i feel like one of those teams that a lot of guys could be

their guy but for the next couple of years you're're right. Sam Darnold is their guy.

And so the likelihood of them taking a quarterback eighth overall, well, probably low,

but the likelihood of them trading up for a quarterback is nil.

They're not doing it because you're right.
