When you walk around, wherever you are in the countryside,

camouflage and hiding birds eat them and lots of other things will eat them as well. So you walk around, you never see them, or you see very few in the daytime.

And then when you moth trap, you suddenly realise what is around in the area of that trap.

The number of species, so you could get a hundred species of moths in a really good trap at the peak in the summer. So July August. To get a hundred species of something, I mean if you're a keen birdwatcher, which I am as well, I could never get a hundred species in a morning. You'd have to be out for days and weeks to get 100 species.
