The race is on, and it's official. The FIA has confirmed Red Bull did breach the cost cap and overspent in the 2021 Formula One season.

0:19.0

The only team to do so, despite both Aston Martin and Williams,

0:22.9

committing procedural breaches. But why hasn't a punishment been announced? And what does

0:26.9

this mean for the future of the cost cap? I'm Ed's draw and joining us to answer those questions

0:31.0

and many more are Ben Anderson and Glenn Freeman. Well, I have to say, it's great to be recording on what shall henceforth be known as

0:39.6

Cost Cap Certification Day. Seven teams have been given a certificate of compliance to show the FIA has

0:44.4

confirmed they did everything right under F1's financial regulations. How was it for you, Ben?

0:49.1

Did it live up to expectations? Well, I mean, when I was at school, getting certificates

We only know or only have confirmed what we already knew or suspected strongly that Rebel indeed

1:24.2

breached the cost cap and overspent last year. So slightly deflating. But you made it

1:30.4

sound very exciting in your intro. So I'm going to get revved up again now. Who doesn't get

1:34.6

excited about certification of accounts? Come on. This is what the sport is all about. Glenn, you must

1:40.8

already be looking forward to Cost Cap Certification Day 2023 now. This is an annual event.

1:46.1

Maybe looking forward to booking it off, but I suppose we can, perhaps we can treat this like a pilot event.

1:52.5

And I hope everyone involved in staging this major moment on the F1 calendar learns from the mistakes of this year.

1:59.5

We get bigger and better breaches next year.

2:02.2

And as Ben says, maybe a bit more detail from the start would be nice as well.

2:06.8

I think we need to go a little bit transfer deadline day in football.

2:09.9

Go Sky Sports style.
