Though it was months before Robert was actually crowned, he won the throne at the Battle

of the Trident by personally slaying Rhaegar Targaryen.

When people think of Robert getting the throne, they think of this moment and the battle

that preceded it.

When Katlin sees Loris Tarell for the first time, she thinks he could not have been more

than two when Robert's slew prince Rhaegar on the Trident, that's the touchstone moment,

the milestone point, the decisive blow, the most important hammer strike in the history

of Westeros.

To be fair, we start during Robert's reign, and of course the story of how the current

king became king is pretty important.

But even after Robert dies, people still talk about it, it's still very important.

We aren't even given a mental image of Robert being crowned, the actual ceremony, whatever

it was.

We don't have any detail really.

You'd think it'd be kind of a big deal, not just a new king, a new house on the throne

after almost three centuries.

Sure, Robert was a Targaryen cousin, but it is still a new house.

Ned doesn't think of the coronation or does anyone else who was there, and we have several

possibilities.

Jamie and Cersei, I mean, Jamie, Cersei does give us a mental image of marrying Robert,

but not of him being crowned.

Maybe she wasn't even there for it, but if she was, she doesn't think about it.
