enough for catcher caleb joseph and the ori the Orioles. Joseph wanted to get out of here two days ago. But, Jimmy, let's open up the phone lines right away here. 617-779-0-98-5. I want to get to that Machado Homer, and certainly we can revisit the entire nonsense with the Orioles. Commissioner Rob Manfred had some comments that he made to Scott Lauber, V.SPN, Boston. We'll get to that. But where I want to start is with that defeat last night. Red Sox ended up splitting a four-game series with the Orioles. And frankly, look, you know, I don't know how many years we've done this show now. I don't remember if we started in 2010 or 2011. Really, it's one big blur. So that's what?

1:12.5

Six years, seven years, one or the other. I can't keep it straight. I don't know. I have no idea.

Six years or seven years. The point being is that if you listen to this show, you've heard me

incessantly. So I'm going to defer to Jim Murray tonight because Murray had an interesting observation at the beginning of the program following the Red Sox defeat last night. And I think it's worth examining and I think it's worth getting into further detail on. Murray, go. Well, the easy thing after a loss like this or really any loss is to bash the manager, John Farrell. but to, I've come to the realization that Farrell has taken too much of a beating and another guy is skating and that other guy is Dave Mbrowski. And it's not, you look at specifically last night, at least I do. And the way that game unfolded, it's not John Farrell's fault that this team currently has maybe four reliable starting pitchers and that they have Kyle Kendrick starting last night.

2:01.9

It's not John Farrell's fault that it's a black hole of errors in offensive ineptitude at third base. And it's comical. What is it? 12 errors now that they have? 12. 12. It's insane. And the same goes for the Red Sox bullpen that's depleted in some nights. John Farrell is forced to use the likes of Joe Kelly who sucks.

2:18.9

That's not on John Farrell.

2:20.5

He's playing the hand that he's dealt. goes for the Red Sox bullpen that's depleted in some nights. John Farrell is forced to use the likes of Joe Kelly who sucks.

2:18.8

That's not on John Farrell. He's playing the hand that he's dealt. And that hand has been dealt to him by Dave Dombrowski. He's skating to me in terms of criticism because that loss last night. That's on Dave Browsky more than anything else in terms of personnel. and I feel like maybe the Red Sox got sold a bill of goods with

2:37.0

this guy and that anybody anybody any executive in baseball can take a pen in the Red Sox

2:42.7

checkbook which is as big as anybody else is in the league and sign a guy like David Price

when he was a free agent anyone could have done that anyone when you had a farm system as rich as the Red Sox did, could make the trade for Chris Sale, as long as John Mcado was involved in it. Anyone can do that kind of thing. The other moves specifically that Dave Dombrovsky has done, especially the ones in terms of the bullpen, they've been a disaster thus far. Tyler Thornburg's not going to pitch this year. And at least through this week, or the way it's looked lately at third base, you mean to tell me you wouldn't rather have Travis Shaw back at third base right now, or at least on this team for the offensive pop that you've seen out of him last year and what he's been able to do in Milwaukee. And you make that deal.

3:24.5

And I know he was only a piece of that deal for Tyro Thornberg, but he gets retroactively placed in the 68 disabled list yesterday. And it feels to me you're not even going to see him this year. So these other moves that Dombrovsky's made, they're not just questionable. They've been awful. See, I think this is a good point, Murray, that when you really look at it, because on yesterday's program, late in yesterday's show, I think we asked the question, the Red Sox have three needs right now. Three. And if you were going to fill one of them and you can only fill one, which one would you fill? We asked that question, right? Third base, starting rotation, bullpen. If you can only fill one of those three, which one do you fill?

4:00.0

And if you have thoughts on that, certainly fire away.

4:01.7

I'd still be eager to hear you. But the greater point is, why do you have that many holes when you are an operation with the third highest payroll in the big leagues?

4:13.2

Or something to that effect.
