I'm Howard Beck, senior writer for Sports Illustrated. Well, so sometimes the

NBA gods smile upon you and sometimes they mess with you a little bit. Recorded a fantastic

conversation Thursday afternoon with Ryan McDonough, former Suns GM and the man who of course

drafted DeAndre Aiton a few years back. At the time we

recorded, D'Hondre Aiton was contemplating signing an offer sheet with the Pacers, was moving

toward that. By the time the afternoon was over, by the time evening was hitting here in Las

Vegas, Aiton had not only signed the offer sheet, but the Sons had matched.

So Ryan McDonough and I did have a long discussion about the various implications of the offer

sheet, how it would affect the Pacers, whether the Sons would match, what that does to, of course,

sign and trade possibilities with the Nets in a Kevin Durant deal.

That is, of course, now off the table.
