Summary
In this very (ahem) serious and unexpectedly heartfelt episode, Hamish and Vic tackle the awkward-but-essential topic of human connection in sobriety—and why keeping your booze-free life a secret is about as effective as trying to whisper in a nightclub.
Hamish reveals how fatherhood gave him the ultimate reason to stay sober (because let’s be honest, nothing tests your patience like a newborn who thinks sleep is optional). Meanwhile, Vic spills on how moving to a new state meant she could finally shake off her boozy reputation—no more “Weren’t you the one who rode the inflatable flamingo into the buffet table?” moments. But with their drinking days behind them, both found themselves facing the same question: How do you actually make friends when shots and sloppy shags aren’t part of the equation?
Somewhere along the way, they also manage to give Brené Brown a new nickname… but can’t quite decide if it’s offensive, brilliant, or just plain ridiculous. (Brené, if you’re listening, please don’t sue us.)
Join us for a laugh-out-loud episode about why we need people in our sober lives, why telling others about your sobriety is an absolute game-changer, and why human connection—not isolation—is the real secret to making it stick.
