God wants you to know for sure that he is present in your life.

Do not think it is presumptuous.

It is something that God promised you, and your life will never take off spiritually until you are absolutely assured that you are his child, that there is nothing between you, and that if you died before your body hit the floor, your soul would be standing in his presence.

That's what he wants for you.
