Charlie Kirk, a husband, a father, and a brother in Christ was killed for his ability to clearly

and calmly articulate his political and religious convictions with others.

The point of this video is not to create content off of such tragedy, but is to offer a public

acknowledgement and Christian comfort to those who like me have been deeply

troubled by the events that they witnessed last week. This tragedy is sickening first because a

wife and her children have lost the most important person in this world to them, their husband

and father. As a young man roughly Kirk's

age with a family of four children, I feel emotionally and physically ill at the idea of this kind

of loss. And we should pray for his family, beseeching God to bring them the comfort of their

resurrection, yes,

their resurrection, and of the forgiveness and life that their father, Charlie, has in Christ.

The second reason why this tragedy is so troubling is that one of the deepest values of our

society has been put under fire, that is the ability to speak freely and confidently in the

public square. This freedom has been put under the threat of death, not by a government or a policy

that can be debated, argued against, or overturned, but by unhinged men who fear neither God nor man, putting under threat

every public speaker and public witness of the gospel in this country.

This type of violence has no real authority, but it carries with it a particular type of dread.

Commenting on the death of a public figure,

especially one whom I nor the intellectual leadership at 1517 knew personally, is extremely

difficult. Many Christians, churches, and institutions who choose to give public comment at this time

will be accused of doing so simply because they are assumed to align with Kirk's political views.

However, organizations such as this one, 1517, operate with a much deeper connection to individuals like Charlie Kirk than simple policy or political align.
