59-year-old Ryan Ruth was charged with the attempted assassination of then-candidate and now

President Donald Trump back in 2024. Prosecutors said Ryan hid by the sixth hole at the Trump

International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida with a sniper rifle. A secret service agent scouting one hole ahead of Trump

was the one who caught Ryan before anything could happen. Afterwards, Ryan faced serious charges

that could put him behind bars for the rest of his life. And Ryan's trial, which took place in

September 2025, kind of went off the rails in a Florida federal courtroom.

Ryan's attorney rambled during opening statements and got cut off by the federal judge.

His attorney also made outbursts throughout the trial.

He was so erratic that he even reportedly made an attempt at suicide

after the verdict was read. Ryan's attorney was actually Ryan Ruth himself. He chose to represent

himself during his trial. And today, I'm covering that strange trial.
