So I don't know how many of you are hikers, but have you ever gone hiking on a really familiar

trail? Or maybe it's just somewhere that you walk frequently, right? The path is worn from years of

footsteps just winding through these gorgeous trees. And you always take the same path because you're going to the same spot that you just

want to sit or maybe it's a beautiful view.

For the longest season, we would hike in North Carolina so much when we live there up in

the mountains.

But the path, it's comfortable, right?

It's predictable.

It's almost as if you don't even have to to wonder because, well, it's a path, right?

I mean, you know where it's going because you've walked it so many times.

But what happens when you step off that path?

Maybe you see something like through the trees.

It's like, oh, that's, oh, actually, I've never gone that direction before.

Right? And so you start going off the path and the ground is uneven and you're trying not to trip over branches or step into

holes and there really isn't a way forward as the path well it's obviously not a path it's not clear

and for a moment you kind of wonder I don know, should I turn back or should I keep going?

Well, that's what starting over feels like.

And that's what we're talking about today, the art of starting over.

It's stepping off the well-known trail, not because the old path was wrong,

but because you sense there's something else. I don't know. You haven't really explored. And even

if you can't quite see it yet, you want to try something unexplored.

It's the mix of uncertainty and then just hope, right?
