Summary

Join the Telegraph's Ben Coles, Charlie Morgan & Charles Richardson as well as special guests every week throughout the Autumn Internationals.

Each episode will hone in on an important aspect of the game and to kick things off we will be hearing from England head coach Eddie Jones on the art of selection. He speaks exclusively to the podcast about his methods and why he pays little attention to what is said in the media. Jones also explains how he came up with the idea of 'finishers' and details the difference between scouting players in person compared to off the TV.

We also preview all of this weekend's games, including England-Argentina, and we hear from the Telegraph's Fiona Tomas who has been covering the Red Roses at the Women's World Cup.

Hello everybody and welcome along to the first episode of the Telegraph Rugby podcast, which, to deliberately misquote the famous

0:21.8

slogan, is exactly what it says on the tin. I'm Ben Cole, the Telegraph's Rugby Reporter,

0:27.7

and over the next month during the Autumn International's, we'll be releasing a podcast each

0:31.0

week. I'm joined here in the studio by Charlie Morgan, the Telegraph Senior Rugby writer,

and Charles Richardson, the Telegraph's

0:37.9

Rebby reporter.

0:39.2

0:48.0

podcast.

0:49.4

What did he sort of tell you about selection?

0:51.3

What did you learn?

0:52.4

I learnt from my very delicately crafted first

0:55.7

question that's both an art and the science a different things different facets that he considers

0:59.8

um and then a lot about the social side of it i think that was kind of what what came across but really

1:05.3

interesting somebody that's done it for so long at a professional level at the highest level for

1:09.5

um so long and also framed around

1:11.9

World Cups quite heavily too. Charles you're you're just back from Scotland how was it and tell us

1:18.7

about your hotel view yeah it was lovely yeah what a stonking hotel hot and cold running water

1:24.4

and a bed no window though can we also also talk about shirt names for a second?

1:31.4

Because it's been a story last week that Scotland and England are going to have shirt names on the back of their shirts during this autumn campaign.

1:39.1

I guess the only caveat is will you be able to read the shirt names? Because they were quite small, weren't they, in the Scotland game?
