And today we will discover what the arrest in the Garden of Gethsemane revealed about

Jesus and about his betrayer, Judas.

The central figures in the verses that we have read are clearly those of both Jesus and

Judas whose activities here are a tragic indication of treachery and Jesus whose approach

to the circumstances is a wonderful illustration of majesty.

You will notice that we are told the time reference, it was when Jesus had finished praying, and

then we are told when he had finished praying, he left his disciples and crossed the

Kedron Valley and on the other side there was an olive grove and he and his disciples went

Now it is in this olive grove, in this garden, that Judas, the betrayer, then comes to

Now the fact that it was in a garden is not significant in and of itself, but this wasn't

It was as John tells us, a garden that the disciples knew very well, that Judas himself knew

It was a place of relaxation for Jesus and his disciples.
