Last week Anthony Curseia walked us through his crime.

But what about the police?

The last time we checked in with them they had identified Curcio as their main suspect

thanks to Alan Dean, the transient man who had written down Anthony's license plate number.

Police also had DNA from the crime scene because the suspect had tossed his mask and disguise when he was fleeing.

But if they were going to connect Anthony to the crime,

they needed DNA from him to match it.

Again, this is the voice of one of the lead detectives on the case,

Tim Bazelle.

We're looking for a throwaway DNA.

What is throwaway DNA?

Once you use something that has your DNA on it and you throw it away, as in you leave it, you throw it in as in you leave it you throw it in the trash you no longer have any right of

privacy to that DNA. At Bazel's urging the FBI started tailing cursioio, hoping to get lucky.

They didn't have to wait long.

Shortly after they started following him, Curcio drove to a gas station,

filled up his car with gas,

then tossed out a Gator Aid bottle, which he'd been filling with tobacco

spit.

And so yeah, so they, hand to hand, they come bring it straight to me and they're going, you're

not going to believe this, but it was the only piece of trash in the trash can at a gas station.
