We've all been there, doing some job or occupying some role that, frankly, we don't feel qualified for.

And we worry that someone, somewhere, is going to find out.

That's such a common experience that we have a name for, imposter syndrome.

But even that is just one facet of the many insecurities that we all struggle with throughout

our lives.

And these insecurities can build up, leading us to feel stressed and overwhelmed, to work too

hard and neglect those closest to us, and even to pursue temporary relief and distraction

in sinful habits. How should we as Christians deal with our

insecurities? What does it look like to really rest in our identity in Christ, even as

we work hard for his glory in our day-to-day lives? That's the question that Ajith Fernando

is going to answer in our interview today. Ajif is the teaching director of Youth for Christ in Sri Lanka after serving as the ministry's

national director for 35 years. His new book with Crossway is called Joyful Perseverance,

staying fresh throughout the ups and downs of ministry. Let's get started. Well, Aegee, thank you so much for joining me again

helping Christians to persevere in life and ministry for the long haul through all of the

ups and downs that we often face in our lives. And although pastors and church leaders are a big

part of the audience that you're writing for, I really think that the book is also so valuable

for everyday Christians because we're all called to

faithfulness as we seek to serve Christ, whether that's in our homes or in our workplaces or as

part of the church. And so I wonder, before we jump into the specific topic of insecurity,

can you share a little bit more about why you felt the need to write a book today
