I dated a woman for a while who would introduce me at dinner parties and at birthday parties and that sort of stuff is this is Jay he got anthrax which

would always lead to like a long story about what that was like.

That's Jay Carson. He would go on to work for the Clintons and Michael Bloomberg and

become the inspiration for the main character in the movie The Ides of March.

He also later created The Morning Show on Apple TV Plus.

But back in 2001, Carson worked for South Dakota Senator Tom Dashel on Capitol Hill.

Strangely, it doesn't that say something, the anthrax survivor has been more of a claim

to fame than the fact that Ryan Gosling played me in a movie that George Clooney directed and

co-starred in.

Jay was one of thousands of people who had their lives turned upside down by two anthrax

letters sent to senators in D.C. in October 2001.

Jay and his colleagues on the hill, they were lucky.

He can look back now and joke about it at parties over cocktails.

But that doesn't tell the full story.
