Good morning my friends and welcome back to the morning mindset. I hope you are

ready to get your mind aligned with the truth of God. It is time for us to be ready

for this day, for us to live this day in light of God's presence and

his truth in our lives.

And we're doing so most recently trying to get our minds aligned by looking at 1st Peter chapter 5.

Now I realize these passages that we're looking at right now are very specifically

oriented toward leaders in the church.

But if you stop for a moment and think about the role of a leader

and one of the primary ways in which they serve,

you'll realize that leaders are to be examples.

There to be those who by example demonstrate what a mature Christian life is to look like.

And with that being the case, we can all learn something from the

instructions Peter's giving here to the elder, whether we are a church

elder or not ourselves, because these are the people to whom we are to look up to,

the people to whom we are to gain understanding of the Christian faith through the way that

they live it out.

And so what Peter instructs to them can definitely

be applied to our lives. Now Peter has been talking about the motives that come with a person who wants to be a church elder, rather the motives that might

motivate them to become a church elder. And now he's going to move into a section

saying something we are not to do as church leaders.

He's saying they're not to domineer over those in their charge, but to be an example to the

flock.
