Here's what I see as the great gap between the haves and the have-nots, and it will keep growing wider.

The path of the American dream used to be very simple.

Get the highest education, get a good job, climb the ladder, get the house with a white

picket fence, climb a little higher, retire, collect a pension, live happily ever after.

That American dream is over.

Education doesn't guarantee you a job only debt a job the

10 to 12 that you'll have throughout your career is anything but secure your grandparents spent

your Social Security and sucked dry Medicare you're on your. You better jump aboard the entrepreneur roller coaster.

But know this. Today, you are not competing with businesses down the street. It's not the

other members of the local Chamber of Commerce that you need to worry about. Oh, oh no. Today,

your competition comes out of every Chamber of Commerce in the world, as well as every second bedroom or basement occupied by a teenager and a laptop.

They're all your competition.

While I will say we are living in the times of greatest opportunity in all of human history, we are also living in an era of epic competition. If you're going to survive,

you've got to have some skills. Your personal future will come down to your growing your skills

greater than everybody else around you. Your emotional resilience, your ability to adapt to

change, your ability to present, your ability to communicate, your ability to adapt to change, your ability to present, your ability

to communicate, your ability to network, your ability to develop your own personal brand. The great

gap between the haves and the have-nots will be a skills divide. You see, unfortunately, few

people will proactively go out and develop the skills they need to thrive today.

So the have-nots will get bigger.
