The odd taxi passes, a few drunk revelers head home, Jonathan pulls his baseball cap down as a couple of girls stumble past him.

stone steps of Waterloo Station and ducks inside under the Victory Arch. To his

relief the entrance hall is near empty, and there's no sign of

police. He glances at the giant clock on the wall. He's cutting it fine. An announcement

through a tinny speaker makes him jump. He regains his composure and checks the board for his train.

The 425 Eurostar to Paris.

At security, there's a family in front of him. Two parents and a little girl.

Jonathan thinks about his daughter, Victoria, who won't yet know that he's gone.

But who he has made lie under oath. Lest we forget.
