Hi Jamie, thank you so much for joining us today.

Well hey, I'm glad to be here.

So I was hoping we could start off by having you give us some history on the city of Galveston,

how it evolved and why it was later nicknamed The Playground of the South as like your book.

Well, so we were a barrier island approximately three miles off of the Texas coast.

We began as Mexican territory. The country of Mexico declared us an official port of entry in 1820.
