So before we dive in to discussing your research and the history of diets and our obsession

with weight, I'd love to know what drew you to the topic.

Well I have a kind of horrendous history with dieting, like a lot of women particularly

in this country, but I was dieting from an early age.

My parents were really obsessed with me not getting fat so much so that when I was like seven

years old, my dad said, if you keep eating like a pig, we're going to have to build you

a trough.

And lo and behold, the next day instead of a plate at my place, there was a little red
