Today we're speaking with guest expert, Professor Benjamin L. Carp.

Professor Carp is the author of several books, including The Great New York Fire of 1776,

a lost story of the American Revolution, which was released just last week.

He teaches at the Graduate Center and is a Daniel M. Lyon's Professor of History at Brooklyn

College.

Professor Carp was also our guest expert for the Boston Tea Party episode.

It's great to be back, thank you.

So the last time you were here, you got us up to speed on the Boston Tea Party

and the build up to the American Revolutionary War.

And now we're back, but some time has passed.

And could you fill us in on what's been going on in the United States

up until the spring of 1776?

Up until the spring of 1776,

the British decided that they really wanted to punish the Bostonians for the Tea Party.

The Americans decided they didn't want any of that.
