He is the author of the highly acclaimed book Seize the Daylight,

the curious and contentious story of daylight saving time.

He's also a consultant for daylight saving time for U.S. Congress.

So this is going to be a big ask, but I'd love for you to start by giving us a brief history of,

well, the concept of time, or really how did we end up with 24 hours and time zones?

Oh, that is, I have a whole book that only covers part of that, so that's a long topic.

I can tell you a couple of quick things. Time zones came from the railroads.
