When I was a child, my backyard was one great wilderness, and it wasn't really.

There was a road a half a mile behind her house.

This is Brian Moore, and that childlike wonder he's describing is something that a lot of us can relate to.

I have such clear memories in recollections of being six, seven, eight years old

and pushing beyond the stone wall that defined her property line into what felt like this endless wild world.

The natural playgrounds in the backyard hills were Brian and his wife Emily Johnson fell in love with the outdoors and skiing.

Well, now they've expanded to distant wilds and massive mountain ranges.

So we've been down to Patagonia a few times up to the Arctic, to Greenland, to Iceland, all over.

Along the way, they've also managed to do an incredible amount of skiing.

We love sort of multi-sport adventures, so we're sometimes using horses, sometimes using sailboats, sometimes using canoes.
