0:47.1	Lestrade regarding a peculiar case. A Miss Susan Cushing of Croydon had recently received a macabre package in the mail,
0:56.0	a cardboard box containing two human ears preserved in salt.
1:01.0	Holmes and Watson travelled to Croydon to examine the gruesome delivery.
1:06.0	Initially, the police believed it was a cruel prank by medical student former lodgers with a grudge against Miss Cushing.
1:13.6	However, upon examining the ears, Holmes dismissed this theory.
1:18.6	For one, they were not a matching pair. One belonged to a woman, the other, a man.
1:24.6	They were also freshly cut with a blunt instrument and contained no signs of the preserving
1:30.2	fluid used in medical dissection. These details convinced Holmes that they were looking at a double
1:37.3	murder. When questioning Miss Cushing, Holmes discovered she had two sisters, Sarah and Mary. Mary was married to a sailor
1:46.7	named Jim Browner, who struggled with alcoholism. Sarah once lived with Miss Cushing, but moved
1:53.9	out due to frequent quarrels. There were also tensions between Sarah and Jim Browner.
2:01.0	Holmes abruptly ended the interview with Miss Cushing and headed to Sarah's home, only to be
2:06.4	turned away by a doctor who claimed she was gravely ill.
