Summary

Welcome back to the second installment of our Attachment Theory Series. This week, we are talking a deep dive into the insecure avoidant attachment style in adults. Kat describes how this gets formed, what it feels like and what it can look like from the outside. Don't worry- she also gave some insight into how to move towards a more secure attachment (but you have to get all the way to the end for that 🤪). This attachment style stems from experiences that lead to a continuous loss of hope relationally. The repetitive nature of their feelings of rejection and abandonment encourage them to form behaviors to detach them from their need for attachment. But we already know that we are a connection based species so these eventually start to backfire and keep us from getting what we all ultimately innately strive for: love and belonging. Listen this week to get the full scoop on how this all works.

And remember, if you come up with questions while listening to this weeks show (or any week really) feel free to send them over to kathryn@youneedtherapypodcast.com.
